Audrey was disappointed that she received the red A-B Honor Roll ribbon this 6 weeks. She had some trouble with math, but worked extremely hard and was only a couple points away from 90s. We assured her that her ribbon meant "Good job!" And all of her other grades were perfection, literally 98 and above!
And if they graded a child's heart, she would be off the charts. I cannot tell you how much she loves her friends, those her own age and younger. Her teacher says she is always helping, mothering, and peace-making in class. Her friends wave and shout her name when we arrive. She is known around school for her smile. We walk down the hall and the adults comment on how much she smiles...and that makes my heart smile way more than ribbons!
Then, there's this little missy. She could be teaching the pre-K right now and possibly Kindergarten as well. She has learned so much from Audrey that she has had a great head start in her learning. She sits and watches Audrey do her homework instead of running off to play. She wants to hear her read. She wants to watch her spelling word practice. And if we ask for some space, she sits in the floor reading and reading and reading, making her book nest. And I have to tell you, the girl is reading. She is reading all of Audrey's old Kinder readers and pushing for more. She does not worry about making a mistake in her reading. She tries so hard with each word, wanting to do it all herself. She.loves.to.read. And she is doing it!
And her heart, it is just precious, too. I would say she is the favorite in the class. All parents say that their child talks about being friends with Brenna and playing with Brenna. She is ok playing by herself and is wonderful at playing with anyone and everyone, too. I love that she still has her old BFFs, too :)
