Baby Shower Downpour

What a sweet weekend of showering our brother and sister Austin and Melinda...and our baby nephew who is scheduled to arrive in about 5 weeks!

 She is decorating the nursery in vintage books and soft blues and greens, so the same was used in the shower. Lyndy found some awesome books from the 50s for gifts and decor, and Mom found sweet little storybook characters to greet guests.

 It was the sweetest shower for the sweetest baby boy.

 There were a few other sweet little people there, too :)

 There were happy aunts and grandmas everywhere :)

 It was more than a 'shower' of blessings...more like a downpour!

 Here's some Texas soil for his room courtesy of his grandpa Marshall :) (The baby will be born in Kansas.)

 The kids don't look excited here, but they loved helping open gifts and pick up trash...

...and celebrate a much anticipated and much loved baby boy!

Daughter Dates

Audrey and Josh went to their first Daddy Daughter Dance this weekend!

 Audrey was so excited and felt so fancy. She even used her fancy walk she reserves for pretty shoes and dresses :)

And she had the sweetest (and most handsome) Daddy by her side.

I hope she took note of how a guy is supposed to treat her someday...

Beautiful inside and out...

Apparently, she did not stop dancing from the moment they stepped in the door and was quite the social butterfly. She reserved a dance or two for her daddy, though ;)

Meanwhile, Brenna and I had our own date to the Blue Moon for chicken and gravy, Brenna's favorite. We had some surprise guests meet us there, too!

Then we snuggled on the couch for the movie of her choice, Lion King. She has seen this one hundreds of times, but she still grins and giggles and sighs and shrieks through the whole thing. This girl appreciates movies. And I appreciate time with her!

Audrey spent the night with Laney after the dance, so we dolled Brenna up for church the next morning complete with Audrey's flower corsage. Audrey only wore it for a few minutes at the dance, but Brenna proudly wore it all through church, Sunday School, lunch, and through most of an afternoon birthday party at Dinosaur World!

We loved our sweet dates with our daughters and the special memories made!

Beautiful Bridal Luncheon

We attended a beautiful bridal family luncheon for our new Aunt Sydney last weekend.

Aunt Paula and Aunt Deanna created a very sweet and feminine party complete with silver and china and linen. The girls felt fancy :)

And the company was the greatest part of the day!

We hope Sydney and her mom Becky felt blessed that day. We are so thankful she is joining our family in May!

2 things about today...

1. I took Brenna for her 4-year-old shots. I was really nervous about this because when she got the flu shot in the fall, it wasn't pretty at all. Josh took them to get those shots and brought Brenna back with these little red freckles around her eyes...

Busted blood vessels from screaming before and after the shot. She was that mad. So we tried a different approach today. After her exam (which she actually enjoyed a lot), I gave her a sucker and my phone, laid her down, told her they were just going to mess with her legs a little, blocked her view of the nurse, and voila...she didn't bat an eye at either shot, didn't cry or even grimace. She was actually surprised when she looked down and saw band-aids. Crisis averted. Win win for everyone. And praise the Lord, she will not be getting any more immunizations for a very very long time.

2. In honor of the Winter Olympics, I let the girls watch the Sieberthammer Olympics from 1994. What is this, you might ask? Well, despite the awkwardness/dorkiness of the age, it was a really neat project our gym teacher put together at the same time as the Lillehammer Olympics that year. In P.E. every day, we would compete in events such as figure skating (in socks, solo and pairs), hockey, shoebox speed racing, skooterboard bobsled, and so on and so on. And we were even on a real country's team and won real spraypainted wooden medals. It was a big deal for everyone at Siebert Elementary that year, and my mom captured it all on video. I have some good memories of that...even though I remember being much cooler than the video portrayed tonight :/ Here's a picture of that same year with all my cousins and siblings to help you appreciate the awkwardness.

But the girls thought it was fun watching us skate in socks 20 years ago, and we took a few turns on our own "ice rink" here at home. Anyone can be an Olympian at heart!

Pinkatastic Day

We headed out this weekend very excited and very fancy to see Pinkalicious the Musical at Casa Manana Children's Theater. The girls asked Kinsey and Sienna to go with us!

Kinsey surprised Audrey with matching personalized shirts :)

At intermission, Nana bought the girls the official Pinkalicious cupcakes.

They were worried they were turning pink like the real Pinkalicious!

Daddy and Awpa were really good sports for coming along to something so PINK!

We even ran into more friends there and then got to meet Pinkalicious and the whole cast for an autograph!

What a Pinkariffic day :)
