New Trys

We have tried some new things lately!

Roller-skating...
They had bruised hineys, but had lots of fun!

 and Basketball!
This was Audrey's first year to play basketball, and she was on a sweet little team called the Li'l Maidens.
She was probably the second shortest child in the league, hardly able to get the ball up to the goal, but she gave it her all and learned so much!
Check out that defense! She has been really funny through this actually. When I told her to get more aggressive and steal the ball, she said, "Isn't stealing bad?" She didn't like the idea of getting rough with her friends, and I cannot fault her for that after instilling gentleness for 7 years now!
I told you she was short ;) We have a great program that focuses on developing players for the future, not keeping score and beating your friends.
It was a great first experience, and I look forward to watching these girls play up through high school.

Wedding of Q and U

A few weeks ago, we held a very special event in our Pre-K classroom...the wedding of letters Q and U!
Each gentlemen represented Mr. Q and escorted Miss U down the aisle.

This gave me a flash-forward glimpse into the future as Brenna walked in to "Here Comes the Bride"...I didn't like that grown-up feeling!
Mr. Stahnke was the officiant helping Q and U vow to always stand next to each other in words. Miss U promised to still fulfill her roles in other words like fun, run, and sun while still returning to Q's side.

"I do," said Miss U.
Then each Mr. Q gave each Miss U a special ring. Did you notice our coffee filter corsages?!

We celebrated with a fun reception of QU cookies and dancing!

This will be a very fun memory and hopefully they will remember the promises of Q and U, as they stick together like glue.

More Birthday Fun

When our original party date was derailed, we decided to use the day to give Audrey her own special event like Brenna's park-play-party. She chose a few friends to go to the movies! They loved singing loud in the car and torturing Josh with girly smelling lotion.

We went to see Paddington!
Audrey, Laney, J'Lee, and Kinsey, all big 1st graders

After the movie, we stopped at McDonald's to play and eat the little cakes Ms. Wendi made for them as her gift :) They were happy to have some cake to eat since their big one went straight into the freezer!

It was a very enjoyable time with sweet friends and sweet birthday girls! And that wraps up our month-long birthday extravaganza!

Olaf in Summer Party

It was time once again for our big bash for both girls, and this year we tried something new...a pool party in winter! We found a great place in Brownwood with an indoor pool and used Olaf to help invite all of our friends to do "what frozen things do in summer!"
Hilariously enough, we were supposed to have the party a week prior, but the heater in the pool broke leaving the pool too cold for swimming. So we froze the cake (ironically since it was a frozen-themed party) and postponed. It actually turned out even better than it would have been at the original date...and my blood pressure took it quite well!

The girls were ready in their swimsuits hours before the party!

1st & 2nd grade friends: Emily, Kinsey, Marli, Laney, Harper, Audrey, Jordan, Reese, J'Lee, Paisley, Brooklynn
 Trey & Caden

"Winter's a good time to stay in and cuddle, but put me in summer and I'll be a...Happy Snowman!"

 "I like warm hugs!"
This face makes it all worth it!

 Snowman parts ;)

 Great-grandmas!

 "Let's bring back summer!"

Brenna's favorite gift of the day:
These are some happy birthday-girls!

We loved celebrating them with so many special friends and family members. Thank you to everyone who came to celebrate and who helped me with another one of my crazy projects (ie Mimi, Nana, Awpa, & Pop)!
