Weekend Campout

The great outdoors was our home this weekend... We had the long-awaited "Great Campout" in the backyard at Nana & Awpa's!

The fort was a key part of the fun as the kids used it for their deer stand as well as show-off tricks for the grandparents.Josh hung his elk horns on it for Layton. It was a proud gift for everyone, especially the boy :)The kids also had a lantern in it to play well after dark!
Camping out also meant run-around-with-no-pants all weekend :) Nana found the world's biggest marshmallows to roast...

Some of us didn't make it long after the campfire and marshmallows... Josh also brought some glowsticks along! He was the mastermind behind most of this:)

You can only imagine a three-year-old's excitement to sleep outside for the first time! They just kept talking about bears and coyotes:) And what would a campout be without fishing the next morning!

We caught three fish...(probably the same catfish each time).
Notice how low the tank is. All of the brown dirt should be underwater. And Dad said this is the best one they have right now.

We decided big dogs and children are not the best partners for an extremely successful fishing trip :)

There is something amazingly precious about a boy and a fishing pole.

Something incredibly sweet about a daddy and daughter sitting together on the bank. And something extremely hilarious about grandparents catching frogs for their grandkids :)

And something about this weekend that will always be very very special...

D's Day

We were so excited for our friend Danica's birthday Friday because we knew the culmination of the day would be this...D was getting a super cute puppy that she fell in love with a few weeks ago. Aren't they sweet together?

So while we waited for this Kodak moment, we spent the day at the park trying out the awesome new playground equipment and having a picnic.Nana, Bobby, Layton, Kinsey, Jessie, and Weston were there, too! It was a beautiful day! Then it was party-time that night where we played more in beautiful weather, enjoyed great company, and celebrated a sweet two-year-old friend!

And she was so excited and surprised about her puppy, by the way :) It was a sweet ending to a great day for little friends!

Race to Chase

We headed south on a fast trip this weekend to meet Brad & Jennifer's new baby Chase! We got to go to an incredible baby shower given by their friends down there, too. Chase is so precious and we can't wait to see them all again soon! (I hope you don't mind me borrowing your picture, Jen :) We made a mini-vacation out of our quick trip. The girls loved staying in a hotel and swimming in the indoor pool (hot tub).

We also stopped off at the Natural Bridge Caverns Wildlife Park.

The girls loved driving the truck as much as seeing/feeding the animals. Can you "spot" the fawn?

As for Brenna's spots...this was mud slung on her and Josh from a very large, friendly, and hungry aoudad.

Hi wildebeest, ...longhorn,

...and elk.

Then, of course, who doesn't enjoy brushing cute little goats :)

Overall, it was a fast and fun trip!
