Comanche Fun: Story Hour at the Library

We loaded up "the bus" for story hour a few times this summer and met some of our other big and little friends there. It was a fun activity time and a nice getaway to the library!

Hair Today...

If you know me, I have never been one to play beauty shop or touch people's hair. But I am loving practicing braiding on my little models. And thank goodness, they are not so tenderheaded now to allow me to tug a little!

They both like the crown braid...
Especially when you add a little bun in the back ;)
I have enjoyed this one (Katnis Everdeen?) in Brenna's hair.
And she loves the after-effects of a braid. They call that Merida hair.

 Beautiful brown locks...
As for me, my sister put some highlights in my hair, and the girls think I look like Anna from Frozen who had a white streak run through her hair!

Comanche Fun: SonTreasure Island

Vacation Bible School is always one of the highlights of summer around here. I am happy to say this VBS last week was the best one we have had at our church!

SonTreasure Island--Our Pre-K Cove
X marks the spot!

Audrey had a blast in her class, too. Just no pictures to prove it ;)
Ahoy! Yes, there was a boat in our sanctuary!
Having fun learning about God's Love!

Just Peachy...

Here's our harvest this year! We have enjoyed lots of peach cobbler from these little beauties, froze sliced peaches for later, and loved sharing fruit with our neighbors and friends.

We love our little tree and our peachy peach pickers!

Summertime in the Mountains

We had our week of summer in the mountains, and as always, it was perfection.

The girls loved their new ride, "the Honda".

Pidge was a happy girl, too.

 I loved my view...
Mimi and Pop are skilled 4-wheeler-ers. "Someone" took us on some sketchy trails I wasn't fond of but they rode them like champs...
He always found us the most beautiful picnic spots, though!
A man in the mountains...can you spot Josh in the grandeur?

We literally could not see anyone for miles and miles...so peaceful.

Back at the house, the girls loved the porch especially with the baby birds in the corner. Audrey also perfected her hula hoop skills, Brenna drank her "cold hot chocolate", and they created some masterpieces for the house.

We spent one afternoon and night in Silverton, a beautiful old mining town nestled in a mountain valley.

Brenna zip-lining in the mountains (and a better alternative than the power line she wanted to slide down from the top of a steep mountain!)

Audrey loved her map. Josh was so proud.
Like I said, it took some special maneuvering to get to some of these breathtaking places, and it was all worth it (since we survived).
 Animas Forks
 Cinnamon Pass--elevation 12,600 feet
Brenna told me we went up where the mountains touched the sky, on top of the world.
 Snow in July :)

 Lunch at American Basin

We also revisited a beautiful pond where we spotted a bald eagle two years ago. It was raining on this particular outing, and no eagle sitings this year.
Back down in Pagosa, we visited the annual carnival.

This week always goes by so fast. We cherish our mountain summertime...
